The Counselling HUB
Guiding Individuals and Families Through Trauma, Life Transitions, Addiction, and Relationship Struggles
About Jason
Registered Clinical Counsellor
Hello, I’m Jason — a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with a master’s degree in clinical counselling , based in Nanaimo. I also understand that healing isn’t always a straight path.
I specialize in helping individuals, couples, and families who are navigating trauma, overwhelming life changes such as grief, burnout, or major transitions, addiction, and painful patterns in relationships, whether current or rooted in the past. My approach is trauma-informed, relational, and grounded in evidence-based modalities including Internal Family Systems (IFS), CBT, DBT, somatic practices, and attachment theory.
But this isn’t just professional for me. It’s personal. I’ve struggled in many of the same areas I now support others through. I know what it’s like to feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or uncertain about what’s next. And I understand how vulnerable it can be to raise your hand and ask for help for the first time. I don’t take that lightly.
Our stories may be different, but the emotions are where we often find common ground. Maybe it’s fear, shame, anger, grief, or something unnamed. Healing isn’t always linear; sometimes we pause or slip before we move forward. That’s okay. In our work together, we’ll go at your pace in a space that feels steady, curious, and real.
I was born and raised on Vancouver Island and live here with my wife and our twin boys. I walk this journey too, and I’m here to walk beside you as you navigate yours.
HUB
Helping, Understanding, Belonging
At the heart of our practice is HUB—a guiding philosophy that shapes the way we walk alongside you on your healing journey. Trauma, anxiety, addiction, relationship issues and life’s transitions can leave you feeling disconnected from yourself and others. HUB offers a foundation of Helping, Understanding, and Belonging—three essential elements for growth and transformation. Located in Nanaimo, BC we proudly serve individuals, couples, and families across Vancouver Island and beyond.
Helping
Healing doesn’t happen in isolation. We all need support, safety, and guidance as we navigate life’s struggles. In our work together, “helping” isn’t about fixing—it’s about walking beside you with compassion, offering tools, and creating space for your resilience to emerge. Help looks different for everyone, and together, we’ll discover what support feels most meaningful to you.
Understanding
So often, pain is met with judgment—both from within and from others. Here, we replace judgment with curiosity. Understanding is about making sense of your experiences, your emotions, and the patterns that shape your life. Through this process, you’ll gain deeper self-awareness, learning to approach yourself with kindness rather than criticism.
Belonging
At our core, we are wired for connection. Trauma, shame, and life’s hardships can create a sense of disconnection—not just from others, but from yourself. True healing happens when you feel safe enough to belong—to your emotions, your body, your relationships, and your own story. This space is here for you, exactly as you are, without expectation or pressure.
HUB isn’t just a philosophy, it’s a promise.
A promise that you don’t have to navigate this journey alone. A promise that your experiences matter. And a promise that healing is possible when help, understanding, and belonging are present.
