LUGS Gaming Addiction Support

Level-Up Gaming Support Group

Is Gaming Taking Over More Than Just Screen Time?

For many teens and adults, gaming isn’t just a hobby—it becomes a way to cope with anxiety, stress, or emotional disconnection. While games can offer escape, they can also create isolation, tension at home, and a growing sense of imbalance.

That’s why The Counselling HUB has partnered with Dwayne Orser Counselling Services to launch LUGS: Level-Up Gaming Support—an 8-week, in-person therapy group in Nanaimo designed for both teens (13–17) and adults (18+) who want to better understand their relationship with gaming and build healthier ways to cope.

Co-facilitated by two registered clinical counsellors with specialized training in gaming addiction and lived experience in recovery, LUGS blends psychoeducation, peer connection, and evidence-based therapeutic support—all in a safe, non-judgmental space.

Group Therapy for Gaming?

Gaming issues can feel isolating, but you’re not alone. LUGS uses the power of group therapy to create connection, reduce shame, and build shared insight. Being in a room with others who get it is often the first step to real change.

Our Approach

The program blends therapeutic approaches like Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and somatic practices to explore the emotional drivers behind gaming. As facilitators with lived experience, we meet participants with respect, empathy, and insight.

Flyer announcing the next LUGS-Teen 8-week gaming-balance group will launch in late 2025, with instructions to email info@counsellinghub.ca to join the wait-list for the 12-seat program.
